Art Web Design Widgets
Hi!
Lately I’ve received many questions regarding art widgets. I can sum them like this:
1. What is a widget?
An art widget looks like a comment, but it doesn’t need to be just one thing. It can include your body of work: additional works, BIO, inspiration, new, links… whatever you want. Like a mini-site.
2. Why should I make one?
There are few reasons to invest a bit more time to create a widget about your work:
A. By adding your info, you give deeper understanding about your work.
B. It can be embedded anywhere on the web – by you and your fans.
C. Search engines can read it, as opposed to Jpg/regular flash.
Here are some examples:
Look at the Widget Byron King Created:
He added: Some of his works in slides, links & a look into his studio (video).
SuicideHappy made one on her Dolls series:
She added inspiration, album of the series & links pages.
F.P.D. (Fanatic Panda Dude) made gifts: postcards that you can embed wherever you want.
You can find them in Galerie de la Royal Digital (VanillaRoyal’s collaborative gallery, I will write more about it soon).
For more examples click here.
If you want us to show your art, make us an art widget and we will show it here & in our social profiles :)

Dollmusic
Dollmusic is the experimental brainchild of Stacy Withrow aka Jelly, and over the course of the last 5 years has morphed from simple acoustic songs co-written with Reggie Ashley and Josiah Carroll, to instrumental, Hyper-electronic ballads composed by Miss Jelly alone in a friends home studio. Currently, after a year off and learning to play the piano, she’s writing songs independently and will be re-entering the studio with the new material by summer 2008.
“Im always interested in collaborating with new musicians. I’m still trying to find my way, my voice. I feel like I’m always in search of that perfect, synchronistic match. But until it finds me I’ll keep writing my own songs even if Im not as adversed on an instrument as some of the other song writers out there.” -Dollmusic
Jelly, also a freelance makeup artist, adds a tasteful element of costuming and theatrics to her performances and I expect her new material will warrant just as much creativity as the last batch. With lyrics that are usually raw, occasionally violent and sometimes vulgar, she maintains a way of delivering her message sweetly as if no one was hurt or injured during the making of this album..Music contribution: “xxx no voxâ€
